The 2012 Teen camp was great (as usual!) - "our" teens are just the best ever. We also thank the parents for raising such wonderful kids. The teens started the first 2 days with intensive throwing on the potters wheel. Then a break on Wednesday to do pastels using Robert Aswani (the African artist) as inspiration, along with African landscapes. Thursday we returned to the wheel to throw an "element" to be completed by hand on Friday. We also went to the tables to create hand-built pieces based on the Circlematic (tm Pierantozzi). Wow - were these wild. Friday we wrapped up the "element" piece and made another "circlematic" item. It was so sad to see the week come to an end - but we all took great joy in what was learned and created. Click the left-hand tab to see the photos.
TEEN CLAY & ART CAMP for 2013 - the week of July 15 has been designated. This week fills up quickly, so register soon. The teen schedule is also 9:30 to Noon. The camps are for teens ages 12 ** and up and still in high school. The cost is $120.
The projects will be more challenging than those for Kids Camp. The primary focus is the wheel, however, hand built projects will also be presented. The Kids theme for 2013 is Japan - we will incorporate some of this interest into the hand and mixed media projects for the teens, to include Sumi-e brush painting.
Unlike the Kids camp, most items will not be ready to take home at the end of the week. We will glaze the completed items or teens may return to glaze or paint their work before school starts.
The cost is $120, which includes either our glazing or the additional time for the teen to return to complete items and receive instruction in glazing.
Teens are also welcome to join regular adult classes that are held year round. You must be 15 or older and be able to participate with the adults.
